It is a partnership between the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, the city of Gallup, the Gallup McKinley County School District, First Baptist Church Gallup and the other churches of the Western Baptist Association. For more information about World Changers you can contact Robert Tavares at FBC Gallup, 505.722.4401 or visit the new World Changers web site www.world-changers.net.
The following is a list of volunteer position that local church members and churches can help with.
Lunch Lugger:
The lunch lugger is responsible to pick up, deliver and serve lunch to a crew working on a job site Monday through Saturday, June 21th-26th, 2010. Your time commitment will be roughly 11:30am to 1:00pm depending on how far away your job site is. Your own transportation and an ice chest will be needed. 15 to 24 lunch luggers are needed depending on the number of participants attending the project.
Crew Chief:
The crew chief is an adult volunteer, age 21 or older, who brings some construction skill and experience to a World Changers project. A crew chief leads a crew of approximately 12 participants in completing the construction work on a job site. They are responsible to see that the work gets done. Crew chiefs do not need to be construction experts but should have some skills. Tasks assigned will be commensurate with the skills of each crew chief. Crew chiefs work closely with a construction supervisor as well as the construction coordinator. Because the crew chief leads the crew, they need to be an active part of all aspects of the project. Many crew chiefs come with church groups that participate but several local crew chiefs are always needed.
Lunch Prep:
Lunch preparers work to provide lunches for the work crews Monday through Friday June 21th-26th, 2010. Your help is needed to pick up food from various venders around town, pack the necessary portions for each crew, and divide out paper goods, drinks and other supplies. The time commitment will vary depending on the day but several hours are usually needed each morning.
First aid Coordinator:
The first aid coordinator is a volunteer, age 21 or older, who helps to look after the health and welfare of each of the participants. They must have a nursing license, Red Cross certification, or other certification of training in basic first aid procedures. They must stay at the lodging facility over night as well as visit work sites during the day. This could involve one or more individuals who stay all week or who take shifts. The first aid coordinator manages all paperwork related to first aid needs.
Construction Supervisor:
The construction supervisor is an adult volunteer, age 21 or older, who assists the construction coordinator in overseeing the actual work of five work sites during the project. The supervisor works directly with the crew chiefs of the sites to make sure the work is done correctly. The construction supervisor should have an adequate amount of construction knowledge and experience. Three or four supervisors will be needed for the project.
